Detailed Itinerary

  • Day 1: Delhi
    Arrival at Delhi transfer to hotel.
  • Day 2: Delhi
    Full day of sightseeing in old and New Delhi.mahatma Gandhi Memorial,Akshardham temple India Gate,Rajpath , Overnight at Hotel.
  • Day 3: Delhi - Rishikesh (220 kms – 7 hours)
    After breakfast, depart by bus for Rishikesh. Stop at sacred Haridwar on the banks of the Ganges river en-route. Rishikesh is known as the land of ‘Rishi’s’ (wise ones) and the town is alive with ashrams, yoga and meditation centres and many interesting people! It is also one of the most sacred spots on the Ganges River. Witness famous Arti (fire) ceremony on the banks of the Ganges River. Overnight stay at Parmarth Niketan Ashram, the largest and most comfortable ashram in Rishikesh and the home of H.H. Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji (Pujya Miniji).
  • Day 4: Rishikesh
    Participate in various early morning activities in the Ashram including meditation and yoga, Rafting on River Ganga, then spend day around Rishikesh at your leisure. In the evening attend sacred Yagna (purification) ceremony on the banks of the Ganga River.
  • Day 5: Rishikesh - Uttakarshi (170 kms – 6-7 hours)
    Depart early morning for Uttakarshi, a busy town on the river. Lunch at Gangaputra Hotel. Afternoon sightseeing at Vishwanath temple. Dinner and overnight at Ganga Putra Hotel.
  • Day 6: Uttakarshi - Dharali, (70 kms – 4 hours)
    Breakfast at Hotel, then drive to Leisure Dham camp at Dharali. Enroute visit beautiful Gangnaini hot springs, set amidst the mountains, and stop for lunch. Visit Swami Sundanand for special treat.
  • Day 7: Dharali - Gangotri - trek (14 km trek to Bhojbasa)
    Breakfast at camp. 2 hour drive to Gangotri and start trek to Bhojbasa base camp. 14 km trek, 4 to 6 hours walk. This trek would be one of the highlights of the journey, taking in Cedar forests, incredibly huge mountain peaks and the Ganges winding its way below the track. Overnight at camp site, which @ 12,000 feet is quite spectacular! This is where you may need your altitude medicine.
  • Day 8: Bhojbasa - Gaumukh - Bhojbasa (10 km round trek)
    Early morning wake up for breakfast .Trek to Gaumukh glacier (3892m) to see the source of the Ganga River. This would be one of THE most sacred and stunningly beautiful places, not only in India, but in the world! Back to Bhojbasa. Dinner and overnight at camp.
  • Day 9: Bhojbasa - Gangotri - Dharali (4-5 hour walk – 2 hours drive)
    Breakfast at camp, trek back to Gangotri for lunch, then short drive to Dharali and check into camp to rest.
  • Day 10: Dharali - Uttakarshi (3-4 hour drive)
    This is a fairly short day to assist us to recover form our adventure at the ‘Source’ and to rest and recharge, as we make our way back to Ganga Putra Hotel.
  • Day 11: Uttakarshi - Srinagar - Balori village (260 kms – 9 hours)
    Breakfast at hotel. Drive to Maletha, Srinagar and onto Balori Village for a very special treat to meet and greet the locals in a traditional old village. Dinner and overnight at River Side resort srinagar.
  • Day 12: Srinagar - Guptakashi (80 kms – 3-4 hours)
    A very beautiful, peaceful place to relax and recharge. Can either rest or take 2 hour drive to Gaurikund to see ancient village. Overnight at Leisure Resort in bungalow huts in Guptakarshi.
  • Day 13: Guptakashi
    Breakfast at resort then embark on a full day’s excursion to visit the temple of Kali. The walk through beautiful fields, from Masta village is about 3 – 4 kms and is very beautiful. You will see the local people working in the fields and view their modest little houses along the way.
  • Day 14: Guptakashi - Deveriya Tal - Chopta (60 kms – 3 hours)
    Breakfast at camp then drive via beautiful mountain lake, where we embark on a rather steep, but exhilarating climb. (optional). Visit a local swami at the very old temple below. Onwards to our camping site at Chopta, with tents waiting.
  • Day 15: Chopta
    Breakfast at camp and then steep trek approx 5 kms to Tungnath and temple (Shiva). Meet with Sadhu who lives in cave there. Option to trek a further 2-3 kms (very steep) to amazing Chandrashila peak ,view of Himalayan range. (approx 13,500 feet). Back to camp for overnight.
  • Day 16: Chopta - Joshimath (130 kms – 6 hours)
    After breakfast, drive to Joshimath through beautiful forest and check into hotel Dronogiri. After lunch, visit the town or take optional cable car to Auli and back. Dinner and overnight in hotel.
  • Day 17: Joshimath - Badrinath (45 kms – 3-4 hours)
    After breakfast drive to Badrinath through a huge river ravine. Check into Hotel Narayan Palace. Visit famous Badrinath temple for blessing and darshan from Lord Badrinath. Badrinath is a very holy and sacred place, known as a ‘dham’. Many Sadhu’s wander here, so you never know who you might meet! It is also very high, around 12,000 feet and the mountains peaks surround you on all sides.
  • Day 18: Badrinath - Mana Village Walk
    Breakfast at hotel and then short drive and walk to Mana village on the Tibetan border. See the locals in their daily rituals, visit famous waterfall. Option to later spend more time in Badrinath, as this is a fascinating town to experience first hand. Also there are some (very) hot springs here, the water is very healing! Overnight at Narayan Palace.
  • Day 19: Badrinath - Pipalkoti (95 kms – 6-7 hours)
    After breakfast, drive back through the stunning mountain gorge to Pipalkoti. Not much happens here, this is to break the slow return journey and for R&R. You can take a walk to the local village, or down to the river below. Dinner at Uday Palace Hotel.
  • Day 20: Pipalkoti - Kausani (8 hours)
    A long day and drive to beautiful Kausani. Stop at ancient Baijnath temple on the way. Overnight at Sun n Snow Hotel. Explore the village, catch up on your emails and/or witness the amazing sun set and sun rise.
  • Day 21: Kausani - Dwarahat - Nainital
    Breakfast at hotel, then drive to Dwarhat , visit to Babaji’s cave. Very pleasant walk through the fields to a holy place on Mt. Dronagiri. Afterwards we drive on to Nainital a lovely hotel for dinner and overnight. This is a long day, but we spend two nights at Nainital to recharge before our homeward journey.
  • Day 22: Nainital
    A day to relax and unwind. Wander around the Tibetan markets, have a Ayurvedic massage, take a boat on the lake or simply read and sleep in the luxurious hotel surroundings.
  • Day 23: Nainital - Delhi (320 kms – 10 hours)
    Early breakfast at hotel then long drive back to Delhi. Overnight at hotel.
  • Day 24: Delhi
    Spend the morning either sightseeing or shopping. Meet at a speciality Restaurant for farewell dinner, followed by departure.
